Floor Plan | Lentor Modern
What are floor plans?
It is essentially a simple diagram that shows the layout of a room and provides a conceptual starting point. Floor plans are drawings to scale that depict the relationship between rooms, spaces, and physical features as seen from above. They allow you to see how people will move around the space. It makes it easier to determine whether the space is suitable for its intended purpose, work through any potential challenges, and redesign before proceeding to more elaborate planning or building stages. Experimenting with different design alternatives and circulation flows that show how people move through the space can also be enjoyable.
Space planning is essential in new construction, but it is also essential in rethinking existing spaces to determine how to use them more efficiently. For many reasons, architectural firms have begun to offer space planning as a separate service: high-rise office space with unfinished interiors, the rapid pace of organizational growth due to technological shifts, downsizing and reorganizing.
Circulation and Traffic Flow
The arrangement of rooms and the flow from one space to another make a difference in the feel and utility of any space where people live, work, shop, or gather. What space is planned affects circulation and traffic flow. As a general rule, the fewer visual obstructions there are in a space, the larger it appears.
